        Teachers' classroom language

Jane provides feedback to teacher in Can Tho

No matter how good an English teacher is in English and teaching, unless s/he can communicate to students in the classroom, s/he cannot be considered an effective teacher. Being rich in language knowledge is one thing while being able to use that knowledge to communicate is quite another thing. Using English for such classroom functions as giving instructions, setting up activities, giving feedback etc can encourage a positive learning atmosphere and allows students to constantly hear English during their 45 minute lesson. This is important language input, especially for those students who never hear or use English outside the classroom.
