Reading and listening
In July and August 2007, 20 provincial workshops were
held for 1000 upper secondary school teachers in Ba Ria
- Vung Tau, Binh Dinh, Can Tho, Da Nang, Ha Noi, Ha Tinh,
Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Nghe An,
Phu Tho, Quang Ngai, Quang Ninh, Quang Tri, Soc Trang,
Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue and Yen Bai.
The main aim was to encourage teachers to use a wider
range of ideas in the ‘before’, ‘during’ and ‘after’ stages of
reading and listening lessons from the new Tieng Anh 10
and 11 textbooks. This was done through trainer
demonstrations, chances to reflect and analyse, chances
to share and compare ideas, and practical chances for
teachers to present and peer teach.
A good reading/ listening lesson is like a good film; interesting, well ordered and with some surprises
for the students.
