Co-trainer
observation in Hue
"Sharing ideas and experiences between VTTN co-trainers"
Between 16-18 July, four co-trainers from VTTN provinces attended the
Hue workshop as observers.
During the three days of the workshop, they saw the Hue trainers in action,
had opportunities to share ideas and materials and considered aspects
of training such as planning sessions, giving clear instructions, monitoring
groupwork and conducting feedback sessions.
As the Hue workshop was the first workshop of the VTTN summer season,
all the observers had the chance to put their new found insights and ideas
into practice when they got back to their own provinces for their workshops
a few weeks later.
VTTN hopes to extend this observation exercise during the next round of
provincial workshops in February/March 2002.
This is what the observers had to say about their trip:
It has been very useful for me to take part in this workshop as an observer.
The experience has been very useful for me - I've learnt a lot about the
organisation of a workshop and a lot about techniques for adapting textbook
exercises. Now, I feel more confident for the corning workshop in Nghe
An where I will be a co-trainer.

I came here because I wanted
to learn more, to gain more experience, to learn from the Hue co-trainers
and the VTTN team. I can say that 1 have learnt so much during the last
3 days. I have learnt about the organisation and preparation of a workshop
and I have learnt about organising pair work and group work and about
monitoring. Now, 1 feel I know what VTTN really is. I will remember the
people of Hue - they are very warm and friendly and I love them very much.

Resource books
for provinces
Before
the July/August VTTN workshops, a set of classroom resource books was
sent to each VTTN co-ordinator. These cover many aspects of teaching,
from theory and methodology to practical classroom activity books covering
all 4 skills. This is the second set of books presented by the British
Council. The books are for the use of all VTTN members. Please contact
your provincial VTTN co-ordinator to find out how you can refer to this
valuable resource.
E-contact
VTTN is hoping to start up an e-mailing list/newsgroup. If you would like
to receive VTTN information via e-mail, please send a message to
vttn@britishcouncil.org.vn
so that we can start to build our e-database.
"What's your e-mail address?"
Computer for
VTTN provinces
Perhaps connected to the previous section, VTTN has a small number of
computers to distribute to provinces with minimal computer resources.
We hope that these will be available for VTTN members to use sometime
before the end of the year. We'll keep you informed!
