BANG ON!

Ms Nguyen Thi Xuan Thuy from Hue sent in these very nice thoughts!

Reasoning……

Practice makes perfect………
But nobody’s perfect………..
…….so why practice?

If it’s true that we are here to help other,
Then what exactly are the others for?

Behind every successful man, there is a woman.
And behind every unsuccessful man, there are two or more.

Every man should marry.
After all, happiness is not the only thing in life.

The wise never marry.
And when they do marry, they become otherwise.

The more you learn, the more you know,
The more you know, the more you forget,
The more you forget, the less you know
…….so why learn?

Pham Thi Thuy from Hanoi sent us this little brainteaser and some riddles!

ViNglish Now!

In Singapore they have Singlish, in Thailand there is Thinglish. These are new versions of English, not quite the local language, not totally English – a mixture! So why not ViNglish in Vietnam?

In this section, we will look at how language is used
differently in Vietnam and the UK. In this issue we look at an example of classroom ViNglish:

‘Good Morning, Teacher!’

This is a very common form of address in Vietnamese upper secondary schools. However, in the UK, you would be more likely to hear ‘Good Morning, Sir!’ or ‘Good Morning Mrs. Smith!’ Hopefully, teachers do not need to be reminded what their job is every morning!!
